Macclesfield Running Festival Half Marathon, 10k & 5k on 18th October 2026!

We are excited to announce the return of the 5k, 10k & Half Marathon this October!

You will enjoy a fully road closed half marathon, 10k and 5k races, starting and finishing in the historic town of Macclesfield and heading out into the Cheshire countryside.

The routes follow a professionally marked and measured single loop from Macclesfield Leisure Centre’s athletics track, taking in the sights of the town and the surrounding countryside roads.

This picturesque race is made even more popular by live performances from local bands, aid stations and communities of cheering spectators including the support of Macclesfield Harriers AC.

Getting there from the Train station will need careful planning. Be sure to give yourself plenty of time!

The nearest train station is Macclesfield, which is a 10 minute drive or taxi to the start.

By Car:

There is limited parking at the leisure centre, please arrive early if planning to park here. We recommend using www.parkopedia.com to find suitable alternatives in the area.

Event Village Opens

Baggage

There will be an informal bag drop marquee within the event village for you to leave any belongings during the race. Please ensure your label is attached to your bag before dropping it off with our marshals.

Anything left within the bag drop is left at your own risk.

Toilets

Toilets will be available in the Event Village.

Water & Refreshments

Yes — there will be water on the course and at the finish.

Race Pack Collection

Collect your race pack from the Event Village on the day — it opens at 07:30. Please bring your booking confirmation and photo ID.

Spectators are welcome to have their dog within the event village, kept on a lead at all times. An informal bag drop marquee is available within the event village for belongings during the race (left at own risk).

Accessibility

Unfortunately due to the nature of the course and terrain this is not a suitable course for either buggy runners or wheelchair athletes. Dogs are not permitted to run at this event however spectators are welcome to have their dog within the event village; they must be kept on a lead at all times. Only assistance dogs will be allowed to enter the leisure center facilities.
