Celebrate the Year’s End at the Birmingham Running Festival on Sunday 20th December 2026

Midlands Air Ambulance Charity delivers exceptional pre-hospital care and lifesaving interventions through its helicopter-led emergency medical services (HEMS).

End your year with purpose at the Birmingham Running Festival on Sunday 6th December 2026. Hosted in the stunning surroundings of Sutton Park, this festive edition offers a Half Marathon, 10K, 5K, and Junior race.

Whether you're chasing a final PB of the year or taking on your first race, this friendly and scenic event is the perfect way to wrap up your 2026 running season.

Each kilometre is accurately marked with distance flags and our friendly marshals will guide and cheer you all the way to the finish. We cannot wait to welcome you to the Birmingham Running Festival.

This event takes place on road surfaces.

Minimum ages:

Half Marathon - 17 years and above

10k - 15 years and above

5k - 11 years and above

Junior Race - U11

Getting There

If using public transport, it’s a short walk to the main entrance at Town Gate from either the bus station in central Sutton Coldfield or the Sutton Coldfield rail station. Sutton Coldfield is less than half a mile away from the event village.

There are several entrances to the park. Car parks are marked on the Sutton Park website linked below. There is very limited parking available on site so we recommend carpooling and taking public transport.

There are plenty of car parks within a 15-minute walk of the event village. As on-site parking is extremely limited, we recommend planning your journey in advance.

The park is easily accessible by both foot and cycle. Cycle parking is available in the park.

There is race specific parking available around the Visitors Centre in addition to all of the Park’s usual car parks.

Baggage

We will have a secure marquee where you can leave your baggage. We recommend you bring as little baggage as possible. Your baggage tag is attached to your race number, you simply tear it off and attach it to your bag. To collect, show your number to our staff and they will help you find your baggage.

Toilets

Portaloos in the event village.

Water & Refreshments

Water stations are positioned around the course, with a bottle of water waiting for you at the finish line too. We recommend staying hydrated in the lead-up to the event.

10k: 9:00 - 10:00

5k: 9:30 - 10:30

Warm-Up & Race Start

Group warm up in the EV starts 8 mins before the start lead by the PT. Before line up for race starts. 10:05 for the 10k, 10:17 for the 5k.

Spectators are more than welcome, we advise staying in the event village where you will be able to catch the start & finish. If you choose to head out onto the course please be respectful of the runners and other park users.

Accessibility

We welcome buggy runners and wheelchair athletes and simply ask that you remain mindful of the runners around you and make yourself known should you need to overtake them. Dogs aren't allowed for both runners and spectators at this event.
