Our RunThrough vests are made from recycled plastic bottles—about 10 bottles per vest. The soft, wicking inner layer is carbonised bamboo for comfort. By offering t-shirts only at checkout, we save the equivalent of millions of plastic bottles each year.

We are starting to roll out more regular usage of water canisters and paper cups where venues allow. Recently this has been done at Brighton TEN, Wimbledon Common & Dorney Lake.

We're frequently using wooden medals which causes significantly less CO2 emissions in production. Also, I believe the metals medals are made from recycled zinc. We've also streamlined the processes of ordering for medals to ensure that any wastage is kept to an absolute minimum

Plastic Goody Bags

At all RunThrough races we have eliminated plastic goody bags. We believe there is no need for a physical bag as it simply adds to wastage and the amount of single use plastic at our events –  the majority of runners have bags with them and can therefore carry all items in their own bag.

Runners are offered their well earned post race goodies, which would make up the contents of a goody bag, as individual items laid out on tables at the finish line.

Paper-Free Administration

We at RunThrough operate a paper free administration process for all events.

All entries are taken online. Pre race communications and information is distributed via email and website publication. Runners race packs are collected at each race. Results are published online and shared through further email communications.

Clothing

All our clothing factories, producing RunThrough Kit are SMETA audited.

SMETA is one of the most widely used ethical audit formats in the world, to ensure our products are sustainably sourced and all products are manufactured to the highest ethical manufacturing standards.

Water Bottles

All water bottles distributed on course and collected after the race are recycled within seven days of the event.

We actively separate all recyclable bottles from our general waste at every event before it is collected by the venue or local authority.

Commitment

The team at RunThrough will continue to strive towards making our events as environmentally friendly as possible while still providing first class running events to hundred of thousands of runners year on year.
