Celebrate the festive season with the Run Media City Christmas event on Saturday 19th December 2026. Starting and finishing in the Media City Piazza, this Christmas race brings runners together for a fun and atmospheric day in the heart of Media City UK.

The route follows a 2.5km loop over the Millennium Bridge, past the Imperial War Museum, and around the ITV and BBC television studios. With festive energy, a brilliant city setting, and plenty of race day cheer, this is a great way to end the year on a high.

You can add an official event t-shirt to your entry at checkout for more than 30% off. Produced in partnership with RT Kit, it features the event logo on the chest and is the perfect keepsake to celebrate your race. Offering the t-shirt as an optional extra helps us keep entry costs lower for runners who prefer not to include merchandise.

Once you enter, you’ll receive a confirmation email straight away, and full event information will be sent to you closer to race day.

The course will run around the tarmac and paved paths of Media City.

Please note there is a 2 hour cut off on this race due to it being an evening event

Getting There

By car:

MediaCityUK can be found from the M60 ring road onto the M602 exiting at junction 3 signposted Salford Quays/Trafford Park. From the roundabout follow signs for Salford Quays turning right onto Broadway at the first set of Traffic lights.

By train:

The best and easiest way to get to Media City is to take the Metrolink, with the 'Media City' Metrolink station located directly next to the event village, or the 'Imperial War Museum' station just a short walk away. Media City can be accessed from the city centre, changing at Cornbrook station if necessary. The closest train station to Media City is Salford Crescent train station, which is approximately a 10 minute journey by taxi.

By bus:

There are several services that stop in and around MediaCityUK, including buses from Manchester city centre, Intu Trafford Centre, Hulme, Swinton and East Didsbury. Frequent bus services from outside Salford Crescent station link it with MediaCityUK.

Parking

There is no specific event parking for the event. Entry into the Media City multi-storey car park will close at 8.30am due to road closures, we advise arriving before 8am if you plan to use this car park as there will likely be queues on arrival. We recommend using the Lowry Outlet car park which is a short walk from the venue and is outside of the road closure area.

Event Village Opens

Baggage

We will have a secure marquee where you can leave your baggage. We recommend you bring as little baggage as possible. Your baggage tag is attached to your race number, you simply tear it off and attach to your bag. To collect, show your number to our staff and they will help you find your baggage.

Toilets

There will be portable toilets available within the event village. Due to the lapped nature of the course, you will also be able to access these toilets during the race.

Water & Refreshments

There will be water stations at approximately 2.5, 4.5, 6.5, 9.5 and 12 miles. There will also be water available at the finish along with your post race goodies and medal.

Race Pack Posting

Race packs are posted to everyone who entered by Saturday 5th December; anyone who entered after that collects theirs at registration on the day. If yours hasn't arrived by the Friday before the race, email info@runthrough.co.uk or collect it at registration.

Race Pack Collection

Collect your race pack from the Event Village on the day — it opens at 07:30. Please bring your booking confirmation and photo ID.
