About This Event

Join us for the Shakespeare Marathon & Half Marathon in Stratford-upon-Avon on Sunday 25th April 2027!

Join us for the Shakespeare Marathon & Half Marathon, a well established event in the heart of Stratford-upon-Avon. With a predominantly road closed, PB-friendly course and a scenic route through the Warwickshire countryside, this is a fantastic choice for runners taking on either the Half Marathon or the full Marathon distance.

Starting in the town centre, the route heads past the racecourse before making its way through Luddington and Welford-on-Avon. Runners then join the Stratford Greenway, a hard compact footpath that offers smooth, consistent running conditions on the way back into Stratford-upon-Avon.

The Half Marathon follows one lap of this new and improved course before finishing in the Recreation Ground, delivering a rewarding route with a brilliant event atmosphere. Marathon runners will complete two laps, with the second loop extending through Long Marston before returning to the Recreation Ground for the finish.

Whether you are aiming for a personal best or simply want to enjoy a memorable race day in one of the UK’s most historic settings, the Shakespeare Marathon & Half Marathon promises a brilliant day of racing.

Each kilometre is accurately marked with distance flags and our friendly marshals will guide and cheer you all the way to the finish. We cannot wait to welcome you to Stratford-Upon-Avon!

Cut-off:

Please note there is a 6 hour cut-off on the marathon due to road closures in place.

Getting There

Parking/Travel

There is no specific event parking. We recommend using Parkopedia to find a space. We recommend arriving early and planning your journey in advance, being aware of the road closures in place.

Parking

There are a number of large shopping centre car parks with 3 or 4 hour maximum stay. We ask that half marathon runners use these options where possible, to allow for marathon runners to use longer stay pay & display car parks.

The Stratford-upon-Avon Park & Ride service will also be in operation. We expect their Sunday service times to be extended for the event, operating from 7.30am, so we recommend this as an alternative to town centre parking.

Event Village Opens

Baggage

We will have a secure marquee where you can leave your baggage. We recommend you bring as little baggage as possible. Your baggage tag is attached to your race number, you simply tear it off and attach to your bag. To collect, show your number to our staff and they will help you find your baggage.

Toilets

There will be toilets in the event village, at the start area, and on the course.

Water & Refreshments

There will be water provided approximately every 5km of the race, and there will also be water available at the finish along with your post race goodies and medal.
