Getting There

Jarrow is well connected by public transport and the Stadium is easily accessible on foot. We strongly recommend using public transport due to road closures around the course.

Metro

Fellgate and Jarrow Metro stations are both a short walk from the stadium, making them the easiest way to reach the event. Fellgate is around 10 minutes on foot, with Jarrow roughly 15 minutes.

Buses

Jarrow Interchange offers several bus routes to the event. Services will run on diverted routes during the road closures, with temporary stops in place where needed.

Parking

Access to Monkton Stadium and Monkton Village will be restricted during the event, with entry limited to local residents, church congregations, stadium gym users (with a valid pass) and event staff. These controls are in place to allow runners to move safely in and out of the stadium as part of the route.

There is no parking at Monkton Stadium for runners, and stadium parking is reserved for Blue Badge holders, event staff and gym pass holders. Parking marshals will guide vehicles away from Monkton Village to prevent congestion, directing cars to the Stadium overflow car parks behind the venue accessed via Luke’s Lane and to the extensive legal on‑street and estate parking nearby. Please respect resident access in these areas.

A large public car park is also available at Jarrow Viking Centre (Metro/Bus interchange), around a 15‑minute walk from the stadium.

Event Village Opens

Baggage

An informal bag drop is located within the event village. Your baggage tag is attached to your race number — tear off the strip, attach it to your bag and leave it in the bag‑drop marquee. Collect it after your race.

Toilets

Toilets are located within the event village — follow the signs. Queues can build in the final half hour before the start, so please plan ahead.

Water & Refreshments

A water station is positioned around the course at approximately 5k, with bottled water available at the finish. We recommend staying hydrated in the lead‑up to the event.

Race Pack Collection

10K A-Race: 07:30–08:30

10K B-Race: 07:45–08:45

Juniors: 09:15–10:15

Warm-Up & Race Start

A group warm‑up will take place 15 minutes before the B-Race race on the in-field, immediately after the A-Race start. After this, estimated finish times will be called to help all runners line up safely and smoothly before the start.

Cut-Off

10K — 10:45

The cut‑off time for the Jarrow 10k is 90mins, due to road closures.

If you think you may take longer than this, please email info@runthrough.co.uk before the event so we can advise on the options. We want everyone to finish, and letting us know in advance helps us plan marshal support and manage road‑closure timings safely.

You’re very welcome to come and support the event. Monkton Stadium and the event village offer the best atmosphere, with clear views of both the start and the finish. You can also head out onto the course to cheer runners along the closed‑road sections around Jarrow.

Best Places To Watch

The stadium and event village provide excellent viewing of the start and finish. There are also great vantage points along the course where you can see runners pass multiple times on each lap, creating a lively and supportive environment throughout the morning.

Accessible viewing areas are available, and our team is on hand to support anyone who may need assistance on arrival.

Dogs

Dogs are welcome in public areas of the venue but must stay on a lead and under control at all times. Within Monkton Stadium itself, we ask that dogs are not brought inside, except for registered assistance dogs.
