Join us for Run Media City on Thursday 29th July 2027 and enjoy a summer evening race through the vibrant surroundings of Media City UK.

Starting and finishing in the Media City Piazza, runners will take on a flat and fast 2.5K loop that passes the Millennium Bridge, Imperial War Museum, ITV studios and BBC studios.

Perfect for runners of all abilities, this event offers a fun, friendly and well-supported race experience in one of Manchester’s most recognisable waterfront locations.

Race Distance & Start Times

Each kilometre is accurately marked with distance flags and our friendly marshals will guide and cheer you all the way to the finish. We cannot wait to welcome you to the Run Media City 5k & 10k.

With RunThrough you can expect a friendly team of marshals to help guide you round the course and cheer you on to the finish, a lively and well-serviced event village with plenty of food and drink options including free goodies from our partners at the finish line after your hard effort.

The course will run around the tarmac and paved paths of Media City.

Please note there is a 2 hour cut off on this race due to it being an evening event

Getting There

By car:

MediaCityUK can be found from the M60 ring road onto the M602 exiting at junction 3 signposted Salford Quays/Trafford Park. From the roundabout follow signs for Salford Quays turning right onto Broadway at the first set of Traffic lights.

By train:

The best and easiest way to get to Media City is to take the Metrolink, with the 'Media City' Metrolink station located directly next to the event village, or the 'Imperial War Museum' station just a short walk away. Media City can be accessed from the city centre, changing at Cornbrook station if necessary. The closest train station to Media City is Salford Crescent train station, which is approximately a 10 minute journey by taxi.

By bus:

There are several services that stop in and around MediaCityUK, including buses from Manchester city centre, Intu Trafford Centre, Hulme, Swinton and East Didsbury. Frequent bus services from outside Salford Crescent station link it with MediaCityUK.

Parking

There is no specific event parking for the event. The Media City and Lowry Outlet multi-storey car parks are located nearby, we advise arriving before 6pm if you plan to use these car parks as there will likely be queues on arrival.

Baggage

We will have a secure marquee where you can leave your baggage. We recommend you bring as little baggage as possible. Your baggage tag is attached to your race number, you simply tear it off and attach to your bag. To collect, show your number to our staff and they will help you find your baggage.

Toilets

There will be portable toilets available within the event village. Due to the lapped nature of the course, you will also be able to access these toilets during the race.

Water & Refreshments

There will be water stations at approximately 2.5, 4.5, 6.5, 9.5 and 12 miles. There will also be water available at the finish along with your post race goodies and medal.

Race Pack Collection

Collect your race pack from the Event Village on the day — it opens at 07:30. Please bring your booking confirmation and photo ID.

Spectators are more than welcome, we advise staying in the event village where you will be able to catch the start & finish. If you choose to go out onto the course, please be aware of the road closures in place.

Accessibility

We welcome buggy runners and wheelchair athletes and simply ask that you remain mindful of the runners around you and make yourself known should you need to overtake. It is not permitted to run with a dog at this event however spectators are welcome to have their dog within the event village we simply ask they be kept on a lead at all times.
