Join us for the Birmingham Running Festival 5K, 10K, Half Marathon & Juniors on Sunday 5th September 2027!

Start September with a late-summer run through Sutton Park at the Birmingham Running Festival. With the energy of a new season ahead and the beauty of Sutton Coldfield’s parkland setting, this is a great chance to take on a 5K, 10K, Half Marathon or Junior Race.

Located only 6 miles from Birmingham City Centre, Sutton Park offers a scenic course through a 2,400 acre National Nature Reserve. The park is also the home of the National Road Relays, with paths previously raced by Sir Mo Farah, Andy Vernon and many more GB greats.

Expect a friendly race-day atmosphere, accurately marked miles and plenty of support from our team throughout the course. Whether you are aiming for a strong finish, building toward an autumn goal or enjoying a family race morning, this event has a distance for everyone.

Getting There

If using public transport, it’s a short walk to the main entrance at Town Gate from either the bus station in central Sutton Coldfield or the Sutton Coldfield rail station. Sutton Coldfield is less than half a mile away from the event village.

There are several entrances to the park. Car parks are marked on the Sutton Park website linked below. There is very limited parking available on site so we recommend carpooling and taking public transport.

There are plenty of car parks within a 15-minute walk of the event village. As on-site parking is extremely limited, we recommend planning your journey in advance.

The park is easily accessible by both foot and cycle. Cycle parking is available in the park.

There is race specific parking available around the Visitors Centre in addition to all of the Park’s usual car parks.

Baggage

We will have a secure marquee where you can leave your baggage. We recommend you bring as little baggage as possible. Your baggage tag is attached to your race number, you simply tear it off and attach it to your bag. To collect, show your number to our staff and they will help you find your baggage.

Water & Refreshments

Water stations are positioned around the course, with a bottle of water waiting for you at the finish line too. We recommend staying hydrated in the lead-up to the event.

Warm-Up & Race Start

Group warm up in the EV starts 8 mins before the start lead by the PT. Before line up for race starts. 10:05 for the 10k, 10:17 for the 5k.

Spectators are more than welcome, we advise staying in the event village where you will be able to catch the start & finish. If you choose to head out onto the course please be respectful of the runners and other park users.

Accessibility

We welcome buggy runners and wheelchair athletes and simply ask that you remain mindful of the runners around you and make yourself known should you need to overtake them. Dogs aren't allowed for both runners and spectators at this event.
