Run Alton Towers 5k, 10K & Junior Race on 13th November 2027

Join us at the UK’s biggest theme park for a brilliant morning of racing and rides. The Run Alton Towers 5k, 10K and Junior Race take you on a unique route inside Alton Towers Resort, with a finish you will remember and theme park entry included in every place. Celebrate your run with a full day of fun on the rides after you cross the line.

Set on smooth, fully marked paths within the resort, the course is designed for flow and enjoyment. Expect clear signage with KM flags and mile markers, friendly marshals at key points, and a lively event village atmosphere to keep the energy high from start to finish.

Event Information

The entire course is run on a tarmac surface, starting and finishing in front of The Towers. Set on smooth, fully marked paths within the resort and service roads, the course is designed for flow and enjoyment — expect clear signage with KM markers, plenty of entertainment, and friendly marshals at key points.

Minimum ages: 10k - 15, 5k - 11, Junior Race - under 11.

Getting There

Alton Towers Resort is located between the M1 and the M6 and is well signposted from both motorways. Depending on your direction, the nearest motorway exits are:

M1 Northbound – Junction 23a

M1 Southbound – Junction 28

M6 Northbound – Junction 15

M6 Southbound – Junction 16

Some Sat Nav systems may take you down a local farm track (especially if you’re coming from the B5417). Please follow the road signs for the last few miles.

By Train: Visit thetrainline.com to search for train times and prices.

Uttoxeter Station is the nearest train station to Alton Towers, just 10 miles from the resort, and is just a 20 minute drive away from the resort or 30 minutes by bus.

Stoke on Trent Rail Station is 15 miles from Alton Towers Resort. A local taxi would take around 25 minutes to the resort.

Derby Train Station is around 25 miles from Alton Towers. From there you will need to order a taxi or a car service to arrive at the resort in around 50 minutes to one hour.

By Bus:

The X41 is a daily bus service from Stafford & Uttoxeter to Alton Towers Resort. Departing Stafford railway station at 9:30am each day, the bus route includes Weston and Uttoxeter on the way to Alton Towers Resort. The X41 departs Alton Towers at 5:30pm.

The 32X is a Monday - Saturday bus service from Stoke Railway Station to Alton Towers Resort. Departing Stoke railway station at 8:55am each day, the bus route includes Hanley, Werrington & Cheadle on the way to Alton Towers Resort. The 32X departs Alton Towers at 5:30pm.

Parking

There will be plenty of on site parking for all runners and spectators. Follow signs for Alton Towers Parking and the parking team will direct you further. Parking will be charged at £10 per car.

The main parking area is approximately a 20 minute walk from the event village, and as with all major events, please expect queues on arrival. We recommend arriving by 8am.

Baggage

There will be a secure baggage drop room available for all runners located on Towers Street. This service is free of charge. Please ensure your baggage label is securely attached before dropping your bag off. Please pick up your bag after finishing your race, before enjoying the resort for the rest of the day.

Unfortunately there are no official changing facilities but there are plenty of toilets within the event village if you need to change.

Toilets

There will be portable toilets within the event village. There are also a number of toilet blocks around the resort which will be open for the event, and accessible on the course. While on the course, please look out for the venue’s signage to find the nearest block.

Water & Refreshments

There will be water provided at approximately half way on the 10k. There will also be water available at the finish along with your post-race goodies and medal. Please note the 5k and Junior Race won’t pass a water station on the course.

Warm-Up & Race Start

There will be a group warm-up with RunThrough Coaches Kirsty Hillier & Lewis Moses which will take place 15 minutes prior to the start of each race. From here, we will call out estimated finish times to get all runners lined up and ready to run.

Spectators are more than welcome. A spectator ticket is required for anyone not taking part to enter the resort — it lets you watch the race and enjoy the rides and attractions for the day. Child tickets are valid for those under 18; anyone aged 18 and over needs an adult ticket.

Due to the nature of the course there will be a short period where access in and out of the event village is restricted for the safety of the runners — full details on timings will be released in the event guide.

Dogs: Unfortunately only service dogs are permitted to enter the Theme Park grounds.

Accessibility

We welcome buggy runners and wheelchair athletes to participate. We do however, due to the nature of the course ask that you stay to the outside of the path at all times, unless overtaking, to prevent any obstruction.
