Run Alton Towers Half Marathon & 5K on 15th November 2026

Take on the Half Marathon or 5K inside the UK’s largest theme park and enjoy a full day at Alton Towers Resort after your run. With theme park entry included in your place, this is a special race-day experience for first-timers, PB chasers, and families alike.

You will follow a clearly signed route around the resort with KM flags and mile markers throughout. Our marshal team will help guide you and cheer you on all the way to the finish under the RunThrough gantry. Celebrate your achievement with the rides and a well-earned photo at the finish.

With RunThrough, you can expect a lively event village and clear guidance from our on-course team. After your run, enjoy food, drink and free finish-line goodies from our partners.

You can add an official event t-shirt to your entry at checkout for more than 30% off. Produced in partnership with RT Kit, it features the event logo on the chest and is the perfect keepsake to celebrate your race. Offering the t-shirt as an optional extra helps us keep entry costs lower for runners who prefer not to include merchandise.

The entire course is run on a tarmac surface starting and finishing in front of The Towers.

Getting There

By Car:

Alton Towers Resort is located between the M1 and the M6 and is well signposted from both motorways. Depending on your direction, the nearest motorway exits are:

M1 Northbound – Junction 23a

M1 Southbound – Junction 28

M6 Northbound – Junction 15

M6 Southbound – Junction 16

Some Sat Nav systems may take you down a local farm track (especially if you’re coming from the B5417 ). Please follow the road signs for the last few miles.

By Train:

Uttoxeter Station is the nearest train station to Alton Towers, just 10 miles from the resort, and is just a 20 minute drive away from the resort or 30 minutes by bus.

Stoke on Trent Rail Station is 15 miles from Alton Towers Resort. A local taxi would take around 25 minutes to the resort.

Derby Train Station is around 25 miles from Alton Towers. From there you will need to order a taxi or a car service to arrive at the resort in around 50 minutes to one hour.

By Bus:

The X41 is a daily bus service from Stafford & Uttoxeter to Alton Towers Resort.

Departing Stafford railway station at 9.30am each day, the bus route includes Weston and Uttoxeter on the way to Alton Towers Resort. The X41 departs Alton Towers at 5:30pm.

The 32X is a Monday - Saturday bus service from Stoke Railway Station to Alton Towers Resort.

Departing Stoke railway station at 8.55am each day, the bus route includes Hanley, Werrington & Cheadle on the way to Alton Towers Resort. The 32X departs Alton Towers at 5:30pm.

Parking

There is free parking on site. The main parking area is approximately a 20 minute walk from the event village, and as with all major events, please expect queues on arrival. We recommend arriving by 8am.

Baggage

We will have a secure marquee where you can leave your baggage. We recommend you bring as little baggage as possible. Your baggage tag is attached to your race number, you simply tear it off and attach it to your bag. To collect, show your number to our staff, and they will help you find your baggage.

Toilets

There will be portable toilets within the event village. There are also a number of toilet blocks around the resort which will be open for the event, and accessible on the course. While on the course, please look out for the venue’s signage to find the nearest block.

Water & Refreshments

There will be water provided at approximately half way on the 10k, and 3 water stations on the half marathon course at regular intervals. There will also be water available at the finish along with your post-race goodies and medal. Please note the 5k and Junior race won’t pass a water station on the course.

Race Pack Posting

Race packs are posted to everyone who entered by Sunday 1st November; anyone who entered after that collects theirs at registration on the day. If yours hasn't arrived by the Friday before the race, email info@runthrough.co.uk or collect it at registration.

Spectators are more than welcome - a spectator ticket will be required to enter the resort, for you to watch the race and enjoy the resort’s rides and attractions for the day. Due to the nature of the course, there will be a short time where access in and out of the event village will be restricted for the safety of the runners - full details on timings will be released in the event guide.

Accessibility

Buggy runners and wheelchair athletes are welcome to participate. Due to the nature of the course, please stay to the outside of the path at all times, unless overtaking, to prevent any obstruction. Only service dogs are permitted to enter the Theme Park grounds.
