Join us for Run Aintree Half Marathon, 10k & 5k Sunday 27th September 2026

In Support of University Hospitals of Liverpool Charity

Join us for a unique opportunity to run a 5k, 10k or Half Marathon at the world famous Aintree Racecourse, best known for annually holding the world-famous Grand National steeplechase.

The race involves laps around the circuit, the course is flat and quick. There will be 1 lap for the 5k, 2 laps for the 10k and 4 laps for the Half Marathon.

Each kilometre is accurately marked with distance flags and our friendly marshals will guide and cheer you all the way to the finish. We cannot wait to welcome you to the Run Aintree Half Marathon, 10k & 5k.

Each Mile will be accurately marked out and we have plenty of helpers to keep you quite literally on track and encourage you on your way to that chequered flag finish. Included in your entry fee is a themed medal, water and post race goodies. Come and enjoy the day with us; we hope to see you there!

Event Information

The majority of the course will be on a tarmac surface however there is a section of the course running through the center of the racecourse that will be on trail path.

Cut-off time:

Please get in touch if you expect to take more than 3 hours to complete the half marathon, as we may need to make special arrangements.

Minimum ages:

Half Marathon - 17 years and above

10k - 15 years and above

5k - 11 years and above

Getting There

By Train

The easiest way to reach Aintree is by train. The nearest mainline station to Aintree is Liverpool Lime Street. Liverpool Central Station is just a short walk from Lime Street, where you can catch a train to Aintree. Aintree Station is directly opposite the racecourse. Use the route planner at www.merseytravel.gov.uk, to find out train times.

By Bus

Aintree can be reached by bus on services: 300, 310 and 345 both to and from Liverpool. For further information on bus routes, contact Merseytravel on 0151 236 7676 or visit www.merseytravel.gov.uk.

By Car

From the South, leave M6 at J21A and join M62 west. Leave M62 at J6 to join M57, follow signs for races. From the North, leave M6 at J26 and join M58, follow signs for races. From Mersey Tunnels follow signs for Preston, then for A59, then signs for races.

There will be free on site parking. Please follow the brown signs & race day parking signs on the way into the venue.

Parking

There is limited free parking on site. We recommend arriving early, as with all major events you can expect queues on arrival. We request that all runners arrive on site before 10am, ready for the half marathon to begin.

Baggage

We will have a secure room where you can leave your baggage. We recommend you bring as little baggage as possible. Your baggage tag is attached to your race number, you simply tear it off and attach to your bag. To collect, show your number to our staff and they will help you find your baggage.

Toilets

We will be using toilet facilities within the racecourse grandstands. You will pass one of these blocks at the end of each lap on the course.

Water & Refreshments

There will be water provided approximately every 5km in the half marathon and 10k, and there will also be water available at the finish along with your post race goodies and medal. Please note the 5k won’t pass a water station on the course.

Spectators are more than welcome, we advise staying in the event village where you will be able to catch the start & finish.

Accessibility

Wheelchair athletes and buggy runners are welcome. Please be aware that there are some narrow sections on the course and remain to the outer edge of the course, unless overtaking, to avoid any obstruction. Only assistance dogs are permitted within the racecourse grounds; you cannot run with a dog.
