Join us for Run Aintree Half Marathon, 10k & 5k Sunday 9th May 2027

Step onto the legendary grounds of Aintree Racecourse, home of the world-famous Grand National, and take on a unique race-day experience. With 5K, 10K, and Half Marathon distances available, this event welcomes runners of all abilities to enjoy a fast and flat course in an iconic sporting setting.

Run within the racecourse grounds on a smooth, pace-friendly route that suits both personal best attempts and relaxed runs with friends. Expect a vibrant atmosphere, clear signage, and enthusiastic marshal support throughout.

Event Information

The majority of the course will be on a tarmac surface however there is a section of the course running through the center of the racecourse that will be on trail path.

Cut-off time:

Please get in touch if you expect to take more than 3 hours to complete the half marathon, as we may need to make special arrangements.

Minimum ages:

Half Marathon - 17 years and above

10k - 15 years and above

5k - 11 years and above

Getting There

By Train

The easiest way to reach Aintree is by train. The nearest mainline station to Aintree is Liverpool Lime Street. Liverpool Central Station is just a short walk from Lime Street, where you can catch a train to Aintree. Aintree Station is directly opposite the racecourse. Use the route planner at www.merseytravel.gov.uk, to find out train times.

By Bus

Aintree can be reached by bus on services: 300, 310 and 345 both to and from Liverpool. For further information on bus routes, contact Merseytravel on 0151 236 7676 or visit www.merseytravel.gov.uk.

By Car

From the South, leave M6 at J21A and join M62 west. Leave M62 at J6 to join M57, follow signs for races. From the North, leave M6 at J26 and join M58, follow signs for races. From Mersey Tunnels follow signs for Preston, then for A59, then signs for races.

There will be free on site parking. Please follow the brown signs & race day parking signs on the way into the venue.

Parking

There is limited free parking on site. We recommend arriving early, as with all major events you can expect queues on arrival. We request that all runners arrive on site before 10am, ready for the half marathon to begin.

Event Village Opens

Baggage

We will have a secure room where you can leave your baggage. We recommend you bring as little baggage as possible. Your baggage tag is attached to your race number, you simply tear it off and attach to your bag. To collect, show your number to our staff and they will help you find your baggage.

Toilets

We will be using toilet facilities within the racecourse grandstands. You will pass one of these blocks at the end of each lap on the course.

Water & Refreshments

There will be water provided approximately every 5km in the half marathon and 10k, and there will also be water available at the finish along with your post race goodies and medal. Please note the 5k won’t pass a water station on the course.

Race Pack Collection

Collect your race pack from the Event Village on the day — it opens at 08:30. Please bring your booking confirmation and photo ID.

Spectators are more than welcome, we advise staying in the event village where you will be able to catch the start & finish.

Accessibility

Wheelchair athletes and buggy runners are welcome. Please be aware that there are some narrow sections on the course and remain to the outer edge of the course, unless overtaking, to avoid any obstruction. Only assistance dogs are permitted within the racecourse grounds; you cannot run with a dog.
