Join us for the Derby Running Festival 5k, 10k & Half Marathon Sunday 2nd August 2026

Come and join us at the Derby Running Festival at Elvaston Castle Country Park! We’d love you to join us for our fourth year of the 5k, 10k and Half Marathon Running Festival around the grounds of Elvaston Castle Country Park.

The course follows a flat multi-terrain route on a mixture of trail, tarmac and footpaths, going through the castle’s grade II listed grounds, past the iconic hall and the famous Golden Gates.

This Run Britain/UKA licensed, officially measured race is open to runners of all abilities.

Each kilometre is accurately marked with distance flags, and our friendly marshals will guide and cheer you all the way to the finish. We cannot wait to welcome you to the Derby Running Festival.

Minimum ages:

Half Marathon - 17 years old

10K - 15 years old

5K - 11 years old

PARKING/TRAVEL (If you want it on the website, please write out in full)

Parking is available on site.

BAGGAGE (state if marquee or venue)

We will have a secure marquee area located within the event village, where you can leave your baggage. We recommend you bring as little baggage as possible. Your baggage tag is attached to your race number – simply tear it off and secure it to your bag. When collecting your bag after the race, just show your race number to the baggage team and they will assist you in finding it.

TOILETS (state if portable/ venue & if there will be any on the course)

There will be portable toilets available within the event village.

REFRESHMENTS (write this as you’d like to appear on the website)

There will be water provided on each lap of the course, and there will also be water available at the finish along with your post race goodies and medal. We recommend staying hydrated in the lead up to the event.

SPECTATORS (write this as you’d like to appear on the website)

Spectators are more than welcome, we advise staying in the event village where you will be able to catch the start & finish.

Please note there is a 4 hour cut off for this race.

Getting There

Parking/Travel

There is a car park available on-site.

By Car

Elvaston Castle is 5 miles from Derby city centre and about 12 miles from Nottingham and easily accessible via the B5010 from the A6 and A52.

Parking

The estate entrance and car park is located off Borrowash Road between Borrowash Village and Thulston. Just follow the brown tourist signs from either direction and they’ll direct you to the car park- for this event we will be using the showground overflow car park. This will be free to all runners and spectators.

Please Note: The showground car park will close after the event, If you want to stay on site to enjoy the area, you will need to move your car into the main car park after your race (this is pay and display).
