Start your summer strong at one of the UK's most iconic multisport events the Royal Windsor Triathlon returns on Sunday 13th June 2027! With Sprint, Standard and Relay options available, this award-winning race is perfect for triathletes of all abilities.

The day begins with an open water swim in the River Thames keep an eye out for swans! Next, take on a thrilling road cycle through the historic town of Windsor, passing Windsor Castle and heading into the scenic countryside. You’ll finish with a memorable run into Windsor Great Park, along the iconic Long Walk, with the castle framing your final strides.

Whether you’re going solo or teaming up for the relay, the Royal Windsor Triathlon is a must do event with a royal backdrop and a buzzing race village atmosphere.

First held in 1991, the Royal Windsor Triathlon is one of the UK's longest-running triathlons. Jonny Wilkinson, Tanni Grey-Thompson, Gareth Thomas and Jenson Button have all raced it, and so has Princess Beatrice.

The Royal Windsor Triathlon is operated by RunThrough as the Official Event Delivery Partner.

Event Information

Swim: 750m (Sprint) or 1500m (Standard) in the River Thames. You start swimming downstream, then turn for a challenging upstream section.

Bike: 22km (Sprint) or 40km (Standard) on open roads, out of historic Windsor past the Castle and into the surrounding countryside. All riders must follow the Highway Code. The Standard distance rides the top loop of the course twice, so study the course map for the two decision points, which are also signed on the day.

Run: 5km (Sprint, two laps) or 10km (Standard, three laps) into Windsor Great Park and along the Long Walk in front of Windsor Castle.

Minimum ages:

Sprint Distance - 15 years and above

Standard Distance - 17 years and above

Getting There

Getting to Windsor by car

Windsor is just 30 miles west of London and is easily accessible via the major motorway networks. From M3 exit at Junction 3 (Bagshot), from M4 exit at Junction 6 (Windsor), from M25 exit at Junction 13 (Egham) and from M40 exit at Junction 4 (Marlow) or Junction 2 (Beaconsfield).

Long stay car parks are located at Romney Lock, King Edward VII Avenue and Alexandra Gardens. All are cheaper than the more central (shopping) car parks and are less than a 10 minute walk to Windsor Castle for spectators.

Getting to Windsor by train

Windsor is served by two train stations, Central and Riverside. Both are situation within a few minutes walk of Windsor Castle. First Great Western operates services from London Paddington, you then need to change at Slough onto the branch line that links with Windsor & Eton Central Station.

South West Trains operates direct services from London Waterloo to Windsor & Eton Riverside Station (journey time approximately 55 minutes). Please check train times prior to travelling, to ensure you can arrive in time for the early Sunday start.

Parking

There will be parking at Windsor Boys’ School cricket pitches. There’s additional parking within the surrounding roads.

Baggage

We will have a secure marquee where you can leave your baggage. We recommend you bring as little baggage as possible. Your baggage tag is attached to your race number, you simply tear it off and attach to your bag. To collect, show your number to our staff and they will help you find your baggage.

REFRESHMENTS (write this as you’d like to appear on the website)

There will be water provided at the start of the run, and there will also be water available at the finish along with your post race goodies and medal.

Spectators are more than welcome, we advise staying in the event village where you will be able to catch the start & finish.

Spectators are very welcome. The event village at Alexandra Gardens is the place to catch the swim start and the finish, and the run laps along the Long Walk in front of Windsor Castle give supporters several chances to cheer.

Long-stay car parks at Romney Lock, King Edward VII Avenue and Alexandra Gardens are all under ten minutes' walk from the castle.
