Well last night was muggy as fuck! I didn't particularly want to be there, and definitely wouldn't have been, had it not been for the accountability from @adam_w48! The plan from @novicetoelite was to "race it" and run it hard, and to be quite honest I REALLY didn't have the right mindset for this kind of running… But, I did it. I got myself round in 51:17 which is by no means PB material, but its faster than I'd expected from my legs. It was hot, and it didn't feel comfortable…at all. But to have even completed it, knowing that I wasn't even sure I would make it around 6 miles was a nice feeling. To bump into @katierunslondon and Imogen too just made me even more grateful for braving the rain. And @runthroughuk, I say it every fucking time but THANK YOU for hosting another brilliant race. You do it so well. #runthrough #chasethesun #chasetherain #wednesdayrun #rainyrun #hydepark #hydeparkrun #londonrun #londonrunners #londonrunning #londonrunningcommunity #runthroughuk #hydepark10k #10krun #sweatyselfie #postrun #postrunselfie #muggyrun #werunldn #runningfriends #runtalkrun #runningfamily #gatosport #gato #runningintherain #rainyrun #runthroughcommunity #londonrace #runningblog #runningblogger

@runthroughuk 10k in Hyde Park last night. As part of The Summer of Mixing it Up, this was another experiment. .. RUN WITHOUT A WATCH. Now, I'm happy to not look at my watch on easy days or even on workouts but racing without one… Well for someone whose strength is sensible pacing, that's a bit of a leap! I didn't want to make a huge deal of this race as it was meant to be fun as well (note to self, 10ks are too hard to be fun) but I went in with a plan in my mind of ' just run hard and don't get overtaken and try and chase the other ladies and don't back off intentionally'. So I ran. For 39 minutes and and 19 seconds. I know that's not fast given what my marathon tike says I should be able to do, but history tells me I don't fit that model. I think I'm happy with that. I wish I had hung on more, obv. I'd love your thoughts on what info I can draw from the experimtent and pacing that you can see if you swipe right. ( for context, I last did a #runthroughUK event when I set my PB of 38:30 in 2016 & my first proper race Post Partum was the BBC 10k which I ran in 40:34 <edit> last July)
