How we are doing our bit for the environment…
Our RunThrough running vests, sold in our kit, are made from recycled plastic bottles & Bamboo.
Around 10 plastic bottles were recycled in order to make the top layer of the vests. The bottom layer next to skin is carbonised bamboo fabric which keeps the vest soft and wicking for the life of the garment.
Many of our other RTKit products use Bamboo fabric, made from fibres that have been harvested from bamboo plants. One of the softest and eco friendly fabrics on the planet.
We at RunThrough design and create our own wooden medals.
By creating our own medals here in the UK, we’re reducing the carbon footprint of the transportation, packaging and production incurred with the mass production of metal medals.
For events with metal medals, we use predicted entries to order the exact amount required, this helps to reduce waste where possible whilst still ensuring we have lots of new and fun designs.
As the wood used is either PEFC or FSC certified these are all fully recyclable and only made to order. Get yours done now enquiry@racetimingsolutions.co.uk
At all RunThrough races we have eliminated plastic goody bags. We believe there is no need for a physical bag as it simply adds to wastage and the amount of single use plastic at our events – the majority of runners have bags with them and can therefore carry all items in their own bag.
Runners are offered their well earned post race goodies, which would make up the contents of a goody bag, as individual items laid out on tables at the finish line.
We at RunThrough operate a paper free administration process for all events.
All entries are taken online. Pre race communications and information is distributed via email and website publications. Runners race packs are collected at each race to reduce on postage and excess envelops.
Results are then published online and shared through further email communications.
All our clothing factories, producing RunThrough Kit are SMETA audited.
SMETA is one of the most widely used ethical audit formats in the world, to ensure our products are sustainably sourced and all products are manufactured to the highest ethical manufacturing standards.
All water bottles distributed on course and collected after the race are recycled where possible.
We operate litter zones along the course for runners to discard their bottles or gel packets. Each course is then fully swept by our team to ensure all litter is picked up and discarded with properly.
T-Shirts at events have been a hot topic mainly around them not being a high enough quality to wear on a regular basis. So we have decided to tackle this by offering a RunThrough Kit Technical T-Shirt as an optional extra.
This is part of a strategic decision to not only raise awareness about the quality of the product but also to counteract the wastage created in a throw away society.
The team at RunThrough will continue to strive towards making our events at environmentally friendly as possible while still providing first class running events to hundred of thousands of runners year on year.
