There’s just a day to go until you Beat Beethoven for Sport Relief, and we’re counting on you help us smash the fundraising out of the park. I know getting sponsored can be tricky, but the easiest way to get those donations in is with a JustGiving page. Every pound you raise will help change lives here in the UK and around the world. https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/beatbeethoven

Update

We are monitoring the situation regarding coronavirus and will be following government restrictions if they are imposed. However based on the restriction on numbers this event already has we cannot foresee a change in current plans for the event to go ahead.

RACE INFORMATION

BEAT BEETHOVEN 5K – FRIDAY 13TH MARCH 2020

Address: Media City, Salford, M50 2EQ (See map below)

MediaCityEventVillage

Start Times – 4:15pm

Race Numbers

SEE ENTRY LIST HERE

All pre-entries will be assigned a number. To collect them you need to make your way down to the numbers desk between 3:00pm – 3:45pm on Friday afternoon. It will take around 15 minutes to collect your number and drop your bag off. The earlier you get there, the more efficient we will be on the day. You will only need one number attached to the front of your shirt. If you have your own pins then that would be great but we will have supplies if needed. Your timing chip will also be in the envelope, this needs to be attached to your shoe as per the instructions on the back of the chip. Please make sure you keep your number on at all times during the race. At the finish you can dispose of your chip (we do not need to collect them back).

When you collect your race packs, please take a couple of minutes to fill out the brief runner Information form which can be found printed on the back of your bib. This will help us greatly in case of an emergency!

You will find instructions on the back of your chip for how to attach it to your shoe correctly (as below):

Chip Instructions

Baggage

Please don’t bring large bags if you can possibly avoid it. We will have a limited storage facility available for bags. All bags may be subject to a security check, so please allow extra time. If you do need to leave bags, your baggage tag is attached to your race number, you simply tear it off and attach to your bag. To collect, show your number to the baggage tent staff and they will help you find your baggage. Please be aware that although the bag storage area will be manned at all times, any bags are left at your own risk.

Toilets

There will be a limited number of portaloo toilets on site for you to use.

Refreshments

There will be water provided on every lap of the course, and there will also be water available at the finish line along side your post race goodies!

During the race

We will have marshals all around the course as well as KM signs and arrows. The course is on the pavements and paths around Media City. The 5k is 2 laps, you can see the course maps HERE.

As the course follows the pavements around Media City, and Salford Quays, please stay to the pavements at all times on your way around the course, as using the road will result in not following the complete 5k route.

Please be aware that there will be spectators and members of the public around Media City during the event.

Under 18s

Please be aware that this race is open to over 18s only. Please note that any under 18s who wish to cheer on the runners must be accompanied by an adult at all times. If you are running the race, another responsible adult will need to act as chaperone. Unfortunately we are not able to provide chaperones for this event.

Broadcast

This event will be broadcast live on BBC Radio 3 and filmed for a short package on BBC One later that evening. BBC Radio producers may ask some participants to talk to them on live radio either before or after the race, but if you don’t want to participate, this isn’t a problem

Photographs, recordings and film footage taken at this event may be used in marketing and publicity materials in all BBC and Sport Relief media, such as on BBC website(s) and BBC social media. By participating in this event you give your consent to being filmed for use in BBC output.
