You used to hate running ????‍♂️ Then you tried it. The you really tried it. Then you tried harder. Your shorts got shorter. Your runs got longer. Your friends started calling you a runner. Yeah, you. ???????? You’re a runner ???? . It happened like this, I just hated it, even walking! Then 5k and a little longer and little longer…and my shorts really got shorter ???? . Early alarms ???? on the weekend are now the norm! @marathonwifey and I made our way to Victoria Park. Another half marathon to build my mileage towards this year challenges…another PB by more than a minute in 1:36:57 ???? . Well done ???????? to all those that ran today! ????PB Alert???? ° So my 2nd Half Marathon is in the books and happily I finished and managed to complete the distance in a quicker time than my previous outing. But OMG it was struggle at times. ° 6.5 times around Victoria Park was the task at hand and it was a cold one. ° The first 15km went well but the final 6km were a struggle with some moments of walking due to some foot issues. Despite all that I managed a to get round in less than 2hrs15. ° I made the decision to enter the event a couple of weeks back, as I wanted to see early in the new year where my fitness was at before commencing marathon training in February. So, with the sore hip/thigh a little less sore this morning I made my way to the #runthroughuk Victoria Park Half marathon. A little nervous because of the niggles and also because my training since Chicago has been exclusively around recovery and base building. Fast forward to the end of today’s race… a Half Marathon PB!! Officially by over 3 minutes, unofficially by over 6 minutes (I over ran the distance by 0.4 mile zig zagging the course! ????????). Absolutely delighted!!! ???? I started slowly looking to just “manage” my way to the finish line, but after the first mile I just wanted to go quicker and felt the legs had it in them. They didn’t let me down. Thank you legs! ???? Oh and the shoes! First outing for the #vaporfly . Oh boy they are a total beast, they felt alive!! They just kept propelling me forward. The hype about those is real, they’re insane!! It was also great catching up with some regular RunThrough runners today after a long while!
