Today wasn't about finishing times, but all about the finish line. My friend has done couch to 10km all by herself, dragging herself out each and every week and today she ran 10km for the first time. Her furthest distance and she did it without stopping to walk. Does it matter how fast/slow we went? Not at all! Today was about achieving 10km non stop running! And of course the bling at the end and all the yummy treats! It’s a #MedalMonday 🤩! . Earned this beaut at Saturday’s @runthroughuk Regents Park 10K. Chipped some more seconds off for a new seasons best and getting ever closer to a new PB 😁 Results on the website are still a bit wonky but I think I *might* have been 1st girl, too 🏃🏻‍♀️🥇 . ⚠️ Long post warning ⚠️ Just posting not boasting, besides I only ran 5K not a marathon, but the reason I really really want to share this with you is because it was kind of a big deal for me. I had a cold for the whole week, woke up with a headache and conjunctivitis 😬 and came very close to bailing out. But I thought if I didn’t do it now I might not get another chance soon. Competitiveness kicked in so I hid my puffy red eyes behind the sunglasses and powered on 💪🏼. I had a goal to do it under 30min and I did it! Also a big deal because FINALLY after about two years I’m back to exercising regularly. I just couldn’t be bothered before, sounding extremely lazy. I had a very good pregnancy, healthy cravings, only put on about 10 kilos but I couldn’t run anymore and just did a bit of pregnancy yoga. When M&M came along I was enjoying a comfortable life. Most of the weight did just fall off but I’m still heavier than before getting pregnant. It bothers me slightly but something has shifted, maybe a kilo? but also mentally and I really enjoy running and my workouts again. A little couch to 5K story. Just find your thing and do it! 🏃🏻‍♀️🤸🏽‍♀️🧘🏻‍♀️
