First run since Christmas Eve and boy did the legs feel it! ? I keep putting off my long runs in the build up to Tokyo. ? So I decided to enter myself into a local half marathon to get in the planned 15 miles. 2 miles running there plus the race. It worked, first 15 miler since NYC done! ✅ It was hard, as expected considering the lack of long runs, but the pace was on the fast side for a long run. The warm up 2 miles were quick because I was running late and the first few miles of the race were quick because it was a race and I got carried away!! ? I soon remembered that it was a long run, not a race so slowed it down. The course was crazy, it’s a one mile loop of the Olympic VeloPark, with lots of little hills… x 13! ? Great @runthroughuk event as always, thank you all! ? . . Happy that is out of the way, now need to try for 18-20 miles next week! ?? . . I hope you all had a great Christmas! How are you all feeling after the excesses that come with it?

Well, I'm just glad the last run of this year is done!!! ? First 5 miles felt so tough that at some point I was going to give up and DNF, but then few chatty miles with @abrarsheikhsony helped, and the rest of the miles – I felt bloody awesome and enjoyed it! ? It was magical! ✨ . . . A big shout out to @abrarsheikhsony for accompanying me and helping me out on the course when I needed someone to talk to. And, huge congratulations to him on smashing another PB. ??? . . . Thanks to all the amazing volunteers, marshals, everyone from the @runthroughuk family and all the folks who came out to support the runners today. You lot are the best! ??
