Race Start

Each race will have a warm up in the event village 20 minutes prior to the start time.
After the warm up, estimated finish times will be called to the starting pen where our marshals will guide you into a start formation. Please be patient and line up only when your time is called forward, there won’t be access to the start lines, prior to this time.

During the Race

The 10k follows an undulating 10k loop within the iconic Alton Towers resort. Starting and finishing outside the Towers, the route begins with a loop of the Dark Forest, which includes the rides TH13TEEN and Rita. The route then passes in front of the Towers and into X-Sector around Oblivion and the Smiler, before going past the lake into CBeebies Land, where you’ll meet characters like the Teletubbies! You’ll then pass Mutiny Bay (and some angry pirates) and through Katanga Canyon, before making your way down to Nemesis. You’ll then leave the resort for a section around the car parks and internal road network, before turning back into the resort at Galactica, and into the creepy Haunted Hollow. A final loop around the Dark Forest brings you back to the Towers for the finish. Now time to enjoy all the rides!

The kids race follows an undulating 1.5k loop within the iconic Alton Towers resort. Starting  at CBeebies, goes past Mutiny Bay, then Dark Forest, then in front of the Towers for the finish.

We will have marshals all around the course as well as distance markers and arrows.

Parents are more than welcome to run alongside your kids or run loose, parents will require a spectator ticket to join in or spectate the event.

Please discard of any bottles within the litter zones along the route.

Refreshments

There will be a water station at half way, please help yourself to this as you pass.

There will also be water available at the finish.

In order to avoid congestion on the course, we recommend bringing your own water and stay hydrated in the lead up to the event.

After the Race

Do NOT stop within the finish area. Please continue through the finish until you pass the medals and are in an open space.

There will be sealed ACTIPH water bottles at the finish for each runner to collect along with your medal and sponsored goodies which will be laid out on tables for you to help yourself.

Please be aware that part of the course is within the resort car parks. Runners will be on these areas until approximately 11.15am, if you finish the race before then please enjoy the rides and attractions on offer until this time before leaving the resort!

Toilets

There will be plenty of Portable toilets within the event village for you to use before and after the race.

There won’t be any showers available, but runners are welcome to leave and re-enter the park after the race if you’d like to nip home or to the car to freshen up. If doing this, please keep hold of your entry ticket (which will be in your race pack).

Baggage

Please limit the number of belongings you bring to the event. We strongly advise leaving any belongings in your car where possible.
There will be an informal self-service bag drop area within  the event village for runners who need it.
Your baggage tag is attached to your race number, you simply tear it off and attach to your bag. To collect, show your number to the baggage tent staff and they will help you find your baggage.

If you do use our informal baggage area, please pick up your bag after the race before enjoying the attractions.
